People would be surprised to know that:
"I can sew just about anything...without using patterns!"

Derya A. Jacobs, Ph.D.I come from a family with a low income in Adana, Turkey, and college education was my parents’ top priority for me and my four siblings. We were raised to understand the importance of education and the importance of working hard and doing our best in any job we had. Watching my four older siblings go thorough college and begin their careers in their professions inspired me to do the same. As a kid, I wanted to become a civil engineer just like my brother; however, thanks to several professors who became my lifetime mentors, my personal learning and discovery journey led me to develop a passion in business.

I clearly remember my first impressions of Robert Morris University. I felt it was a very rare jewel with so many positive qualities. Eight years later, I still feel the same. I am especially proud to be part of the School of Business, which, in April 2009, became one of only 568 business schools out of 15,000 worldwide to be accredited by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. This highly coveted recognition represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools and demonstrates how committed we are to meeting and exceeding the highest standards of business education for our students.

Continuing with our commitment to provide the best business education, the School has opened the new PNC Trading Center, U. S. Steel Videoconferencing and Technology Resource Center, and ATI Center with an interactive Marketing wall.  The new School of Business building will be next to Massey Hall, completing a School of Business quadrangle that will surround Rudolph Gardens.  The new building will house over 50% of the business classes and provide students with private project rooms with informal study space.

This is truly an exciting time for our school. The entire faculty and I are committed to providing our students with a high-quality, comprehensive, engaged learning experience, and your success is our number one priority.
